How does Synology sync Outlook Calendar and Contact? [2025 ver.]

How can Synology NAS synchronize the Calendar and Contacts in Outlook 2019/2021 (Office 365)?

If you own a Synology NAS, you're likely aware that it comes loaded with a variety of server software, including calendar and contact servers. If you're wondering how to sync your Synology CardDAV and CalDAV servers with Microsoft Outlook, you're in the right place.

Synchronizing Synology CardDAV and CalDAV has always been a pain.. Because of the out dated information documented in the Synology KB, and correct port and URL is never revealed clearly. Luckily, EVO collaborator has successfully discovered the latest working PORT and URL for both CardDAV and CalDAV on Synology, let's do it.

First, make sure you have CardDAV and Synology Calendar package installed in Synology NAS.

Synology NAS uses port 8008 for CardDAV service.

Synology NAS uses port 5000 for CalDAV calendar service.

Edit the user account who will use these services, make sure calendar application is ticked.

Open these 2 ports in your router's port mapping settings.

These settings are usually located in NAT or Virtual Servers section.

Now open https://www.evomailserver.com/ to download the contacts and calendars synchronization add-in. EVO Collaborator for Outlook.

Install it

Open Outlook (classic), click EVO ribbon tab, sometimes it maybe hidden, expand the tool bar in this case.

Click Configure Profile.

Click profile 21.

Enter your url and port 8008 like http://domain:8008
Then enter username and password.

Click test, and apply then quit.

If everything is correct, ECO will start to sync your Synology Contacts and Calendars with Outlook.

Sync Google calendar with Outlook 2016-2021 and Office 365

Synchronizing Gmail Contacts and Calendars with Outlook 2016-2021

Can Google Calendar sync with Outlook? Absolutely! It's achievable!

Given that Gmail is a service provided by Google, it's worth exploring whether Google's Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook offers this feature. However, there are some limitations with Google's tools when it comes to integration with Outlook:

Google only provides Google Apps Sync for its Google Apps customers rather than its free gmail accounts.

What if you wish to seamlessly synchronize Microsoft Office 365 with Google Calendar and contacts, without any hassle? Yet, for both Google and Microsoft, this is where the financial opportunity arises. How can they enable such effortless synchronization without generating any revenue?

Let's look at a solution from third-party. EVO Collaborator for Outlook is an outlook plugin for CardDAV and CalDAV.

eco_logo

Consider its size, which is merely 8MB. Remarkably, when Outlook collaborates with ECO, it can surpass the limitations of both Microsoft and Google, enabling bidirectional synchronization of contacts and calendars with Google's CardDAV and CalDAV.

What are CardDAV and CalDAV?

carddav_vs_caldav_logo

CardDAV and CalDAV are standardized protocol APIs defined by the IETF's RFC for managing contacts and calendars. Google employs these APIs in the backend to fulfill their customers' requirements for accessing such information.

What are the steps to synchronize Google Calendar with Outlook 2016-2019 and Office 365?

It is easier than a ever with ECO:
  1. Download ECO from ECO's download. (run setup.exe as administrator)
  2. Open Outlook 2013/2016/2019 and click on EVO's ribbon at the top banner.

    eco_gui

  3. Click on Configure profile(s)and click Profile #6 with filling in your Gmail email account in space below Full e-mail address or username. Then click on TEST at the bottom.

    eco_gmail_profile

  4. Because GMail uses OAUTH 2, you'll see an OAUTH authentication dialog during the account detection, just authorize it and continue. (if you can not click the authorize button, please check if your IE is updated to latest available)

    oauth_gmail_eng

  5. When finished, click on Apply and Quit. Then, any newly added contacts, calendar under Gmail folder will be syncing in a bi-directional fashion. Any items that were added on your Android phone will be synced into Outlook.

    gmail_contacts_screenshot

Besides what we just talked about, as you know that CardDAV and CalDAV are written according to industrial standards, therefore you can expect ECO to work with any other CardDAV/CalDAV services for the same tasks..

After all your Outlook calendar, contact and task entries are synchronized with Google's services, it will be very convenient to have one single master copy on Google cloud and distribute them across all your other PC, laptop, ipad, and iphones in a breeze.

Build your own Calendar and Contact Cloud service!

Gmail serves well for individuals, but its suitability diminishes in larger company environments with extensive information and user requirements. Instead, consider setting up an in-house solution tailored to your company's needs.

EVO Mail Server (Email & Contact & Calendar server) provides a straightforward approach. Start by downloading and installing the free mail server along with the CardDAV and CalDAV addon (EVO Collaboration Add-on). Once your customized cloud environment is established, Outlook's address book, calendars, and reminders can be securely stored and shared. This solution and software offer a viable option for small to medium-sized companies seeking to manage their services independently rather than relying on cloud platforms for sensitive business data.

Outlook 2021 or Office 365? What is my Outlook version?

ECO works with all versions of Outlook after 2007, including versions 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, 2021 and Office 365 (Microsoft 365). However, if you want to know what version of Outlook you have, you can check this help page.

Sync Yahoo calendar with Outlook 2016 and Outlook 2019

Import, Export, and Synchronize Yahoo! Contacts and Calendar with Microsoft Outlook

In 2024, an increasing number of jobs require people to work from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Syncing calendars, contacts, and tasks remotely from home to collaborate with colleagues has become a challenge for those unfamiliar with the process.

Just a few weeks ago, a friend from high school asked me a question: "My colleagues from the States keep bothering me. They want me to import their Yahoo! Address book and appointment information into Outlook 2016, 2019, and 2013 on their laptops because there's too much crucial information to miss out on. Now, I'm stressed because the old Yahoo! Sync method isn't effective anymore. What should I do?" When I heard about this, I suggested an idea to him: Try EVO Collaborator for Outlook! I previously mentioned to you all how amazing this software is for importing contacts and calendars from Gmail and iCloud, right? Just a few days ago, I came across an update history on the EVO Mail Server website about ECO, and now it can perform read/write/delete synchronization tasks on Yahoo! CardDAV and CalDAV! Let's learn how to sync Yahoo contacts and calendars with Outlook:

  1. Outlook and Download ECO software from EVO's Official Download
  2. Open Outlook and enter ECO’s “Configure Profile(s)”

    eco_gui_config_selected

  3. Select the third profile from the top at the left-hand side: YAHOO!

    yahoo_slot

  4. At the right-hand side, enter your complete Yahoo! E-mail address in “Full e-mail address or Username” field

    yahoo_username_pw

  5. About the password, we need to pay close attention. Yahoo! now requires any third-party application to use a separate password called “App Password” generated within your Yahoo! account settings. With this App Password, such sync application can then access information within the user account.
  6. Please follow Generating App Passwords instruction to create such password and enter this generated password in “Password” field.

    yahoo_pw_generate

  7. Click on “TEST” below. Once a pop-up box showing “Success” appears, click on “Apply” and then “Quit”
  8. At this moment, ECO will initiate an automated addressbook and Calendar synchronization

How do I sync Toodledo with Outlook?

How to sync Toodledo with Outlook?

Toodledo online has been a popular task management service provider for the past few years. Being different from regular Google Tasks, Outlook Tasks and  iCloud Reminder, Toodledo provides multi-dimensional ways of keeping your tasks in various areas such as Life Goals, Folder, Location, GTD (getting things done), and Subtasks. Especially, GTD believers found Toodledo suitable to arrange their to-do lists efficiently that they will not drop or forget what has to be done.

toodledo_website

A task is capable of existing in several categories at the same time through its relative interconnectivity to other task items. It is only available if you have either free or paid services from Toodledo.com. Toodledo interface is available in Toodledo’s own web GUI, iPhone app and Android app. Even some 3rd party applications support it with write/read or read-only one way or another. Somehow, discussions have been going on for quite a while on a working and useful plug-ins that sync between Toodledo and Outlook environment.  Before I start to try all those plug-in recommendations, I received a newsletter from EVO staff about the availability on supporting Toodledo. I guess I might as well start with this since I bought EVO Collaborator for Outlook a long time ago.

How do I configure EVO Collaborator for Outlook to sync with Toodledo?

  1. Click on Configure profile
  2. Select Profile 13 – Not configured (this is the profile for toodledo)

    toodledo_config_profile_en

  3. Click on TEST
  4. In Toodledo’s OAUTH Authorize window, enter your username and password

    toodledo_authorize

    .
  5. Click on Authorize
  6. Once completed, click cross at top-right
  7. A Success box will pop up and we are done

    toodledo_result_en

After your Toodledo account is properly configured, we need to verify if we are able to sync tasks.
  1. Create a task on Toodledo web GUI
  2. Manipulate task’s property such as folder, context, goal, location, status, priority and tags
  3. Once task is synchronized with Outlook, go to Outlook and check the matching item in Tasks section
  4. Take a look at various symbols under category, they match each of the task’s property that you just manipulated on web GUI.
  5. Reversely, edit the testing task’s properties such as title and elements in category. Then check back with your Toodledo web-GUI and see if sync takes place.
  6. Here is the emoji mapping table for your reference: Star emoji: ★☆ Folder emoji: 📂 Context emoji: @ Goal emoji: 🏁 Location emoji: 📍 Status emoji: ☑ Possible values:         ☑None,         ☑NextAction,         ☑Active,         ☑Planning,         ☑Delegated,         ☑Waiting,         ☑Hold,         ☑Postponed,         ☑Someday,         ☑Canceled,         ☑Reference Priority emoji: 🏃 Possible values:            🏃Negative,            🏃Low,            🏃Medium,            🏃High,            🏃Top
I believe EVO Collaborator for Outlook is doing a decent job this time to incorporate Toodledo into Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016 or 2019 and it comes in handy for those who use both Toodledo and Outlook.

How to synchronize Nextcloud contact, calendar and task with Outlook?

How to sync outlook calendar with Nextcloud?

In this year of 2020, more and more jobs require people to work from home due to COVID-19 pandamic. Syncing calendar, contact and task remotely from home in order to cope with colleagues has become an issue for those who have not done this before.

For you ownCloud fellows, you should already heard of founding engineering crews from ownCloud left the company and created a brand new company called Nextcloud. Theoretically, Nextcloud and ownCloud should share the same or similar concept in the server backend.

Out of curiosity, I want to check if EVO Collaborator for Outlook is compatible with Nextcloud. I applied for a trial account on Nextcloud (https://demo.nextcloud.com/). The server path is https://nextcloud_server/<username>/remote.php/, which (looks pretty familiar lol?) is what you would enter hostname space if you were to have an account from a Nextcloud service provider.

However, if you run your own Nextcloud server, the server URL is the same as ownCloud and I think that looks very familiar to me: https://<nextcloud_server>/remote.php/

Therefore, we can still use EVO Collaborator for Outlook to synchronize Nextcloud’s contact, calendar and task with Outlook 2007/2010/2013/2016/2019.

After some basic tests, I think everything works fine, if you find any problem maybe you can contact next cloud or evo staff.

How to sync Google Calendar with Outlook 2016 & 2019?

How to synchronize Google calendar to Outlook 2016 & 2019?

In this year of 2020, more and more jobs require people to work from home due to COVID-19 pandamic. Syncing calendar, contact and task remotely from home in order to cope with colleagues has become an issue for those who have not done this before.

On July 29 of 2015, the long awaited Windows 10 was released. Two months following that, Microsoft Outlook 2016 was released on Sept. 22 of 2015. Many of us are looking for good synchronization compatibility between Google Calendar (or shall I say CardDAV and CalDAV) and Outlook. Well, apparently, Microsoft let us down.

Microsoft may have its own reason not to blend in CardDAV and CalDAV. However, I think lots of users around the globe are looking for a solution of synchronizing their contact, calendar, and task items on Google, iCloud, Yahoo, Outlook.com and many more service of the kind with Outlook 2016.

Developers such as gSyncit and EVO Collaborator for Outlook have well prepared for the launch of Outlook 2016 in a Windows 10 environment. While gSyncit released its v4.0 last August, EVO Collaborator for Outlook took a whole year to consolidate itself with compatibility vs. various cloud and on-premises platforms. Yet, EVO has announced the official release of v2.0 to welcome Outlook 2016 with the same ease of use and simplicity of configuring profiles.

If you have not used ECO before, you may refer to my old posts of how to configure contacts, calendars and tasks from various source with Outlook since steps are basically the same and simple.

Outlook.com contacts not syncing with Outlook 2016 & 2019

Outlook.com contacts not syncing with Outlook 2016 & 2019

outlook.com, formerly known as hotmail
Today I was asked about this question, "Outlook.com contacts not syncing with Outlook 2016", I knew that Outlook should automatically sync with outlook.com contacts once the account is added.

However in real world, this kind of problems happened a lot in Microsoft products, don't try to call Microsoft support, You may end up with spending several hours with some dude, explaining your issue with the software again and again. I know, been there, done that!

Resolving Outlook 2016 contacts not syncing with Outlook.com issue quickly

Since we don't have the time to explain with some dudes who don't have access to their R&D resources, why wasting time on that, just use something helpful instead.

We'd like to introduce you EVO Collaborator for Outlook. with this handy plugin, your outlook.com is just few minutes away from your Outlook 2016.

Configure Gmail account in Microsoft Outlook 2016 or 2019

Configure Gmail account in Microsoft Outlook 2016

Applies to: Outlook 2016, Outlook 2013, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Task

For various reasons, we like to integrate Gmail accounts into Outlook rather than using Gmail on web browsers. At this point, we use free Gmail account as an example to demonstrate on how to create a Gmail account inside Outlook using IMAP and SMTP protocols.

Adding Gmail account

Setting up Gmail account in Outlook can be as simple as a few steps below:

1. Click on [File] at top-left

2. Click on [+ Add Account]

3. Click on [E-mail Account] radial and
fill in your name, E-mail Address and password. Then, click on [Next >] at lower-right

4. After 10 to 15 seconds of auto-discovery, your Gmail IMAP is successfully configured and click on [Finish] to exit [Add Account] window

5. At Navigation Pane to the left, you will see folders for your Gmail account

Unlike some on-premises mail server, whether they are free mail server or paid software that requires us to fill in server host name and supporting ports, Outlook is able to auto-detect Gmail configuration settings.

Managing subscribed folders

You can and you should take a look at the list of subscribed folders in your Gmail account, because you do not necessarily need to subscribe them all. For example, subscription to [Gmail]/All Mail folder can be omitted so that you can save a lot of time and bandwidth.

Streamline your Google experience in Outlook

For Outlook users who stick with Gmail accounts, it would be nice to also integrate their Google contacts, calendars and tasks from their Google accounts on Outlook. I personally recommend sync through Outlook add-ins. Since contacts, calendars and tasks are always changing all over the places, life is easier if things are synchronized throughout all your devices.

Surprisingly, it’s the year of 2016 and Gmail still doesn’t provide Push Mail Notification to Gmail account configured under Outlook. After observation for some time, the only way for me to be notified of new incoming mails for IMAP is if I leave the INBOX of my IMAP account selected.

Sync tools on the market

There are about a dozen of Outlook sync tools on the market, such as gSyncit, Companionlink, OggSync, Sync2, SyncMyCal and EVO Collaborator for Outlook. What if we want an all-in-one solution that synchronizes Google contacts and tasks while providing both real-time calendar sync and Gmail Push Mail to Outlook? EVO collaborator for outlook may be the only answer. I’d recommend Gmail users using Outlook as their default desktop mail client to try this add-in.

How to sync Axigen Mail Server contacts in Outlook without Outlook connector via CardDAV?

How to sync Axigen contacts in Outlook without Outlook connector via CardDAV?

Among free mail server and paid server ware, if you are in IT industry for some time, you have probably heard of Axigen Mail Server. Its powerful features and scalability are proven to provide a decent alternative to Microsoft Exchange Server.

On the other day, when I saw EVO Collaborator for Outlook  was released and it supports synchronization with Axigen Mail Server's contacts or address book, I decided to try it out.

How to sync Axigen Mail Server contacts with Outlook using CardDAV protocol?

Once I got my trial installation of Axigen Mail Server done, all I did was opening my Outlook 2016 and manually entering contact URL in the following syntax:

https://<servername>/Contacts/

Then, I enter my full e-mail address and password. The next thing is clicking on TEST button, Apply button and Quit button.

As a result, the synchronization went successfully:

However, I notice that domain and public contacts are not yet to be synchronized through CardDAV.

I googled a little bit and found requests of implementing CalDAV and CardDAV support were brought up years back:

https://www.axigen.com/forum/forum/support-discussion-lists/feature-requests/3792-caldav-support

On Axigen's Google+ page, support for CardDAV was mentioned and made available back in Q2 2015.

https://plus.google.com/communities/102973968071431941505

Then, I found a good news on Axigen's Product Community update that CalDAV may be available in Q4 2016:

https://axigen.uservoice.com/forums/294255-general/suggestions/13322535-caldav-support

Many thanks to Axigen's R&D staffs on their effort making things possible. This is really awesome that users from Outlook 2019, 2016, 2010, 2013 and 2007 will benefit from it!
